Journal Therapy: Moving Beyond the Blank Page

Nicki Cawood: Accredited Practitioner in Therapeutic Journaling (MCMA)

Everyday journaling tracks our immediate thoughts, feelings, and daily life. Therapeutic writing uses structure, creative prompts, and reflective frameworks to deepen our self-awareness and actively guide our personal growth.

This is not a creative writing class. It is a structured, evidence-based tool to help you clear mental noise, drop heavy expectations, and reclaim your identity.

When you are carrying the weight of a demanding career, the physical exhaustion of perimenopause, the midlife “What now?”, or relentless systemic battles of SEND advocacy and caring, a blank page is not helpful. In fact, it is often overwhelming. You do not need another place to simply repeat the loop of your daily stress.

Journal therapy is different. It is structured writing with a therapeutic purpose. Instead of staring at an empty page, you are given functional frameworks and deliberate prompts to move the noise from your head onto paper, creating the safe distance you need to separate who you are from the heavy roles you carry.

How It Works:

  • 100% Private: Your writing stays in your notebook. You never have to read a single word out loud or share it with me. The focus is entirely on your own processing.

  • Led by You: You provide the honesty and I provide the structure. We shape the sessions around what you are carrying right now, whether that is a changing family dynamic or a deep career transition.

  • Actionable Clarity: We move past simple venting. We use the page to help you edit old scripts, build self-awareness, and actively design your next chapter.

Start with free resources or a workbook, build gradually, and move into guided one-to-one sessions when you're ready to go deeper.

What people said after Pocket Sanctuary (the 5 day version):

"The most valuable part of the five days for me was experiencing the one-to-one listening and reflective feedback. I loved having the time to respond, write down my initial thoughts, let them percolate during the day, and then take the time to summarise them in writing before receiving a measured, validating response."

"The journaling prompts were incredibly useful for getting me to think about specific issues, and writing about them allowed me to get my thoughts in much better order. Having to reflect on my reflections in order to send my feedback forced me to be far more objective and properly organise my thinking into something coherent."

  • Start Date: On demand

  • Price: £95

  • Limited strictly to 6 places. No prior journaling experience needed.
