Meet Nicki Cawood
Providing remote and in-person, non-clinical journal therapy and reflective practice for individuals and businesses across the UK
Based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, I am a CMA Accredited Practitioner specialising in Journal Therapy and Bibliotherapy. My practice is built on providing a grounded, non-clinical space where you can slow down and notice more. I offer practical, reflective frameworks for anyone navigating the SEND system, professional shifts, or personal transitions, helping you turn overwhelm into a clear path.
What sets my practice apart isn't just the process, it is the intention behind it. I take the time to understand your unique story, providing the structured tools and quiet space needed to navigate life's transitions with authentic presence and purposeful clarity.
Weren’t You a Copywriter?
Yes, and I still am. After twenty years as a copywriter, working with small businesses and individuals, I realised that I wanted to use my “wordy” skills to help people in a different way. While I’m still copywriting I take on fewer of these clients and limit my intake to mainly holistic, health and wellness or empathy-based businesses.
Outside of the copywriting realm I’m been quietly studying and working on the transition to journal therapist for years, both personally and professionally. So, while I’m working mostly with journal therapy clients, SEND parents and carers and taking groups for guided journaling sessions, I’m a writer at heart so will always keep a small part of my week dedicated to helping businesses with their content needs.

About Nicki Cawood
Based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, I am Mum to two (giant) young men, wife of 23 years to Roy and am ruled by silver tabby cat called Flint.
I almost always have a book in my hand or within easy reach, enjoying a wide variety of genres. It is the love of reading that pointed me towards bibliotherapy.
My own practical quiet is found on my yoga mat and with my Sangha. I am practicing Buddhist in the tradition of Plum Village and Thich Nhat Hanh (Zen, Engaged Buddhism and Mindfulness). As a SEND parent I’ve found meditation to be a wonderful tool for clarity and calm.
These personal practices ensure I bring a calm, purposeful focus to every session and project.
Community & Connection
In 2017, I founded Thirsk Coworking to foster genuine connection within our local business community. This is a free, flexible and fun coworking group open to all. It has been wonderful to meet so many individuals and to hear how they’ve benefited from these session.
Something of a passion project, I’ve plans to expand the Thirsk Coworking offering in the future.
