A Private Space for SEND Parents & Carers
Journal Therapy Services For SEND Parents & Carers
In the world of SEND parenting, your own needs often sit at the bottom of a very long list. Journal therapy offers a way to bring yourself back into focus. It’s a structured, evidence-based way to handle the transitions and emotional 'heavy lifting' of your role. There are no rules here, just a page, a pen, and a path toward feeling a little more like yourself again.
Dealing with frustration, anger, disappointment, fear and anxiety can be a daily struggle for anyone caring for someone with additional needs. I’ve been there. My approach blends hard-earned experience of SEND parenting, years of professional writing and evidence-based journal therapy, narrative writing and bibliotherapy methods.
These are private 1:1 sessions. Your writing is your own and not for anyone else to see. Spelling and grammar do not matter.
This is an opportunity for you to spend some time advocating for yourself.
Summary: A focused, 60-minute space to safely externalise a specific instance of system-pressure, guilt, or the "unspoken" weight of caregiving.
The Structure:
Specific Unpacking: A guided session to work through one acute moment or emotion, such as a difficult EHCP meeting, a moment of "caregiver guilt," or a significant disappointment.
The Unsent Letter: We use structured writing techniques to say what cannot be said elsewhere, providing a safe outlet for anger or grief.
The Outcome: An immediate emotional release and a "calm-state" writing tool to use when the system next feels overwhelming.
Note: If you decide to move to a 6-session block within 14 days, the cost of this audit will be deducted from your total.
Summary: A sustained, private space designed to help you navigate the marathon of caregiving without losing your own story in the process.
The Structure:
System Preservation: Developing writing practices that act as a buffer between your personal wellbeing and the administrative "onslaught."
Working Through the "Shadows": Dedicated sessions to process complex themes: guilt, the loss of "the plan," and the evolution of your identity as a carer.
Re-authoring the Future: Shifting the narrative from "fighting the system" to "preserving the self," building a permanent toolkit for emotional regulation.
The Outcome: A robust, private narrative practice that provides stability, precision, and a renewed sense of agency through every stage of your child’s journey.
“I spent so long fighting the system, advocating for my son and dealing with the daily ups and down. Somewhere amongst all of that noise, I lost myself.”
